William Bryant

William (Bill) Dalmus Bryant, 83, of Roanoke, formerly of Pilot, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem, VA. He was born May 3, 1928 to the late Newell K. Bryant and Rebecca Eanes Bryant.

Mr. Bryant was retired from J. M. Turner and Son Construction Company. He was a member of Clearbrook Baptist Church in Roanoke. Bill was an avid gardener and loved sharing the fruits of his labor with others.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanna B. Bryant; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Bob Martin, Salem, Deborah and Nelson Simpkins, Christiansburg, Elaine and Bobby Roberson, Washington, NC, and stepson Cecil Blankenship and wife Linda of Troutville; two sisters, Georgi McKee, Punta Gorda, FL and Wilma Dunn, New Castle, VA; grandchildren, Melony Webster (Chuck), Pelham, AL, Emily Richey (Neil), Marietta, GA, Amy Rasor (Jeremy), Christiansburg, Nelson Simpkins, II (Sopa), Bangkok, Thailand, Bryan Clower (Allison), Ballston Lake, N.Y., Jessica Foster, Roanoke, and Amanda Dillard (Jamie), Fincastle; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Clearbrook Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA, with Pastor Red English and Pastor Bryan Ratliff officiating. The graveside service will be held at 3 pm on that Friday at Belmont Cemetery, Christiansburg. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, VA, as well as at Clearbrook Baptist Church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
