William C. (Billy) Curtis, 71, of Christiansburg passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Billy was born in Christiansburg, Virginia, to Lonnie and Evelyn Curtis on February 13, 1942. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; and by his older brothers, Don Curtis and Jim Curtis.
Billy was part of the graduating class of 1960 at Christiansburg High School and spent the biggest part of his life working in the used car business. Billy was the founder and owner of Curtis Motor Company and the Curtis Mini Storage businesses. Billy came from an era of when a “handshake” went a long way and that is something Billy lived by his entire life. He was known to many in the local and surrounding areas for his love of old cars and could be seen daily driving through town in one of his antique cars alongside his beloved dog “Tootie”.
Billy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Faye Curtis; two daughters, Teresa Curtis of Christiansburg, and Lisa Curtis of Atlanta, Georgia; his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Michelle Curtis; his two grandchildren, Jordan and Cole Curtis; two step-grandchildren, Hannah and Emily Meade, all of Christiansburg; and his brother, Paul Curtis, also of Christiansburg.
Billy was a beloved husband, Father and “PawPaw” and was loved dearly by his family and many friends. Billy will be greatly missed but his love and passion for life will be remembered forever.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at Horne Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, from 6-8 p.m., with a Memorial Service to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Billy’s memory to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, 10 East Main Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
