William “Dean” Dalton, 79, of Elliston went peacefully to his eternal home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
He was born in Hillsville on August 17, 1942 to the late Charlie Addison Dalton and Macy Goad Dalton. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Dalton Mize; brother, “Mo” Addison Dalton; sister-in-law, Shelby Coble Dalton; and niece, Dianne Dalton Hall.
Dean is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 59 years, Ruby Coble Dalton; sisters, Brenda Nester and Karen Gallimore, both of Hillsville. He was a loving father to Richard Dean Dalton and Charles Patrick Dalton (wife Jinger Sarver Dalton). He was a loving, caring and fun Poppy to Lauren Dalton Burgess (husband Josh Burgess), Abigail Mae Dalton, Lydia Grace Dalton; and a great-poppy to Kennedy Grace Burgess and Madelyn Blake Burgess; as well as many other family and friends.
Dean was a dedicated and faithful member of the Elliston Church of God. He was an admired, hardworking employee of Holston/Floyd/Salem Stone Quarries for 62 years. He worked right up to a week and a half before his passing – fulltime!
Funeral Services will be conducted in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Duncan and Rev. Ronald King officiating. Visitation will be prior to the Service from 1-3 p.m. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville.
