William Thomas (Bill) Hall, 74, of Floyd, VA, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill served as a State Trooper for the Virginia State Police from 1967-1994. The majority of his career was spent stationed in Floyd County, where he continued to reside after his retirement.
Bill was born on December 18, 1940, in Montgomery County, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul T. Hall; mother, Olia A. Preston; two brothers, Paul D. Hall and Gary W. Hall.
Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Karen Estepp and husband Dale, and Kathy Hall, all of Smyrna, DE; sisters, Barbara H. Woolwine and husband Walter, Linda H. Lyons, Becky H. McMahan and husband Vance, Debbie H. Custer and husband Red; and a brother, Norman L. Hall, all of Christiansburg; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill was also blessed to have many lifelong true friends who meant so much to him. He also loved the dogs that he had in his life. He was an avid collector of guns, fast cars, and John Deere tractors.
He was a loving son, brother, and father and will be deeply missed. He maintained his sense of humor with him until the end.
Special thanks to Dr. McCoy and his staff for the care they gave him and to Lewis Gale Montgomery staff for their care in the last few days of his life.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 25, 2015, from 12-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will commence at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Pastor Michael Vest and Pastor Jeff Dalton officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Christiansburg.
