William I. ‘Bill’ Morton, 71, of Christiansburg, passed away on October 6, 2014.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Hurst and Alma Audrey Vaughan Morton; grandson, Patrick Altland; and a sister, Mary Anne Long. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Williams Morton of Christiansburg; children, Kelly Weston Altland and husband Robert of Ashburn, VA, William Edgar Morton and wife Margaret of O’Brien, OR, Mary Morton Tysinger and husband Lee, Anna Morton Bryan and husband Josh, and Rebekah Hope Morton, all of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Heather Altland Schaefer and husband Erin, Paul Morton, Shannon Altland, Kalea Morton, Nathan Morton, Ty Tysinger, Nixon Tysinger, and Evan Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Emma Schaefer and Jack Schaefer; sister, Janet Morton Morris and husband Douglas of Martinsville, VA; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Bill was a proud member of the United States Army and had retired from E.I. Dupont in Martinsville. He was a member of Grace Life Baptist Church in Christiansburg. Bill was a graduate of Fieldale High School Class of 1962 and attended Ferrum College. He later attended Virginia Tech and received his Associates Degree in 1996. He loved reading, sports, and horticulture, and had a special love for raising azaleas and rhododendrons.

The Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Grace Life Baptist Church, 1640 Peppers Ferry Road, Christiansburg, with Dr. Timothy Hight, Mr. Bob Barbatti, and Mr. John Quinlan officiating.
