Ward Sutphin, age 94, of Pilot, VA passed away on March 26, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Bertha Iddings Sutphin; wife, Elsie Sutphin; brother, Frank Sutphin; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Sutphin.

Ward was a US Navy Veteran having served in World War II, was a retired VDOT employee with 33 years of service, and a longtime member of Pilot United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Regina Young and husband Allen; son, Barry Sutphin; grandchildren, Clark Young and Vanessa, Gail Duffy, Stephanie Morris and Bradley; great-grandson, Conor Duffy; step-great-granddaughter, Tirzah Wimmer; siblings, Cecil Sutphin, Carrie Cole; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as friend, Lois Basham.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 10 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Bill Norris and Pastor Darren Landon officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Ward’s memory to Pilot United Methodist Church, 2123 Huffville Road, Pilot VA 24138.
