Willie Reed Alexander III, 67, of Christiansburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. Born to parents Willie Alexander II (deceased) and Lillie Mae Hash on January 23, 1951, he was a devoted son, husband and father. Willie attended Christiansburg Institute until 1966 and graduated from Christiansburg High School in 1969.
Upon high school graduation, Willie enlisted in the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War as a Military Police Officer. After honorable discharge in 1973 he continued his career in law enforcement working for the FBI, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. He also held positions as a security guard at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, a cook as local area restaurants, and as a travel agent after earning a degree from National Business College.
Being a man of many talents and music lover, he also played tenor saxophone and recorded an album with the band Soul Brothers, Inc.
Willie grew up in a loving household and is survived by five siblings; Tyrone (Judy) Alexander, Maurice Alexander, Charlene (Andra) Beasley, Regina Alexander and Melissa (Felipe) Richards. He was a family man as well, and is survived by his children; Kimberly Alexander, Kaila Reeves, KyAnne (Kirk) Dudley, and Kaleena (Kareem) Brown. He also has eight grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Join the family in remembering Willie's smiling face and jovial personality on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Horne Funeral Home, viewing from 11a.m. - 12p.m. and service following afterwards. Interment will follow at Shaffer Memorial Cemetery.
