Yvonne Sybil Snider Laffoon

Yvonne Sybil Snider Laffoon, age 70, of Christiansburg, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. She was born on May 20, 1954, to the late L.G. Snider, Jr. and Lois French Snider.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Laffoon, a stillborn brother, and two sisters, Melissa Simmers and Shelia Bond.

Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Renee Stanley and her husband, Trevor Stanley; nieces, Amanda Simmers, Adrienne Boyd (Andrew) and Alisha Consroe (Jeff); nephew, Benjamin Ballard; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hunt (Don) and brother-in-law, Steve Simmers.

Yvonne was the pianist at her church, Faith Missionary Baptist, for many years and loved working with the children there alongside her sister, Melissa. She loved to sing and listen to music and especially loved hymns and classical pieces.

Yvonne cherished spending time with her family, especially her daughter. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and followed His commandment to love others as yourself through her desire to give to others in any way she could. She also had a passion for animals, giving donations to many animal organizations. She always had a cat and treasured each one dearly. Additionally, she was very interested in gaining knowledge through reading. She read all kinds of books, but especially enjoyed her sci-fi and mystery novels. Yvonne also taught English as a Second Language (ESL) for many years where she delighted in sharing her knowledge.

The family will receive friends from 3 - 5 PM on Saturday, July 6th, 2024.The funeral service will be held directly after at Horne Funeral Home Chapel at 5 PM, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Wells and Rev. Mike Vest. Interment will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
